What Does This Mean for Cloudpager App Attach Storefronts?
App Attach in Azure Virtual Desktop now supports Windows Server 2025, instantly expanding the utility of Cloudpager’s App Attach Storefronts! If you already have applications packaged into Cloudpaging containers, you can now publish them to App Attach and manage deployments to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) on Windows Server 2025, as well as other supported Windows operating systems.
Windows Server 2025 for AVD makes economic sense for certain workloads. Customers may notice they achieve a higher user density with published applications on Server Operating Systems vs their desktop counterpart. This increased density makes Windows Server 2025 perfect for employees who do not require a full desktop and can work on a thin client with access to a few published applications or possibly even on their own personal device.
The Appeal of Modern App Management for Servers
App Attach Storefronts can unlock the many benefits of Cloudpaging containers, such as eliminating application conflicts, ensuring consistently clean application removal, and a high rate of compatibility.
Cloudpager can offer significant benefits to workloads on Windows Server operating systems, including AI Packaging to automate the packaging of many enterprise applications into container to help administrators keep on top of the ever-frequent application updates released in response to security vulnerabilities.
Using Cloudpaging for App Attach and Windows Server 2025
During our webinar with Microsoft earlier this week on App-V Full Infrastructure’s End of Life (which has now passed), we were actually the first to demo App Attach’s new support for Windows Server 2025. I was able to leverage Cloudpager’s AI Packaging, App-V optimization, and MSIX optimization capabilities in quick succession and publish them into App Attach. From the App Attach admin console, I was then able to get them rapidly provisioned to a brand new Windows Server 2025 environment.
As you can see in the video below, getting started with Cloudpager and AI Packaging couldn’t be easier. Customers can go from no Cloudpaging application containers to many applications with just a few clicks.
Cloudpager reports can also be used alongside Log Analytics to provide a comprehensive real-time application usage reporting mechanism that enterprises can rely on at license renewal time to figure out if all the license procured previously as still actively used thus saving money but also for gatekeeping process like User Acceptance Testing (UAT). When an application owner tells IT an application passed testing and can be deployed to production, it is no longer a case of just taking the owners word for it. Instances of application usage and total duration of usage can inform the process and decide a no or no go before seeking change control approval.
Cloudpager’s Role Based Access Control can also complement Azure’s RBAC providing a further layer of security and control over who in organization can perform certain tasks. For example, organizations can limit who can add applications to Cloudpager and who can publish applications from Cloudpager to App Attach.
Cloudpaging application containers also operate with visibility limited to only entitled users by default which makes it perfect for shared multi-session operating systems. Cloudpaging application containers can also handle even the most stubborn legacy applications, helping bring forward applications to the latest Server OS.
