Application Containers Streamline Azure Virtual Desktop Management
Last year we collaborated with Microsoft on a new and improved App Attach in Azure Virtual Desktop. The key initiative was to expand App Attach beyond just MSIX, introducing native support for Cloudpaging application containers with Cloudpager’s native integration to App Attach in Azure Virtual Desktop.
This enables customers to easily and quickly get their existing Cloudpaging application containers published into the App Attach menu in Azure Virtual Desktop where they can be assigned using the Azure entitlement process, limiting application usage to assigned host pools and users. This was a great boon for AVD customers as virtually any Windows application can be dynamically provisioned as a Cloudpaging application container, including large complex applications such as Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, and even Visual Studio. The more applications delivered with Cloudpager and App Attach, the fewer custom image updates and Azure resources required by enterprise IT teams, driving significant cost savings.
AI Packaging Transforms Application Packaging into a Few Clicks
Earlier this year we unveiled AI Packaging within Cloudpager, which can be used to automate the containerization of hundreds of consumer off the shelf applications. This Cloudpaging AI feature enables you to select from a list of applications available in WinGet and have them automatically packaged by AI, automatically applying packaging best practices and optimizations to your new application containers. For AVD Administrators, this means effectively outsourcing the packaging of Google Chrome, Zoom, Cisco Jabber, and more to AI. This makes it possible to get 100+ applications packaged and published to your Azure Virtual Desktop users in a matter of minutes, which are instantly ready to be dynamically delivered to employees without the need for desktop state change or provisioning processes. Better yet, all with no user disruption.
We Recently Launched Drag-and-Drop AI Packaging
We are taking AI Packaging even further! As showcased during our session Ignite Your Endpoint Strategy with AI Packaging and Intune at Microsoft Ignite this year and highlighted in our blog a few weeks back, AI packaging will package applications simply by having you drag-and-drop installers to the platform. This means you can extend AI Packaging to your custom packages. Thanks to our integration with App Attach in Azure Virtual Desktop, these applications can then be dynamically delivered to your Azure Virtual Desktop users.
In the video below, you’ll see the end to end process of getting AI packaged applications published via App Attac. Seeing is believing and in the video you will see the end to end process for getting applications from WinGet and custom installers packaged with AI and published to users.
These AI Packaging capabilities are transforming Azure Virtual Desktop management. Application containers eliminate many of the challenges presented by Windows applications such as failed installation, corruption, application conflicts, unclean uninstalls, and more.
AI Packaging helps Administrators keep up to date with the latest versions of applications without a need to manually package or install the app. Cloudpaging application containers also work great in RemoteApp too for your published application needs.
By dynamically provisioning application containers directly to end users, updates do not require changes to custom images. In fact, by abstracting applications out of your desktop images, Cloudpaging application containers and Cloudpager can reduce the number of custom images in your estate.
AI Simplifies AVD Image Management
We are so excited to share these game changing enhancements to AI Packaging! If you use Azure Virtual Desktop and currently crack open your desktop images to manage application installs, uninstalls and application updates there is a better way and now. With AI Packaging and App Attach Storefronts in Cloudpager, it couldn’t be easier.
