Numecent Delivers VDI Capabilities and App Compatibility for Enterprises Migrating to Windows 10

Managed Service Providers Are Seeing a Huge Break in Software Upgrade Costs with Cloudpaging 9.1 Product Enhancements

April 12, 2018 – Irvine, CA –  Numecent, Inc. announces enhancements to its Cloudpaging software application provisioning platform for large enterprises or Managed Service Providers (MSPs).  Many enterprises and MSPs are facing application compatibility challenges after migrating to the secure operating system standard of Microsoft® Windows® 10 and modernizing to a virtual desktop infrastructure environment.  Cloudpaging’s technology product enhancements support these common challenges of enterprises worldwide.

Highlights of the enhanced software follow:

Simplified Lift and Shift Among Modern Windows® 10 Desktop Environments
Numecent Cloudpaging capabilities were enhanced to simplify User Environment Management (UEM), allowing virtualized applications and their settings to roam with users as they move from one virtual machine instance to another on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Remote Desktop Services (RDS), or physical devices. The UEM support feature works with:

  • Windows® 10 physical desktops and Windows® Server 2016 Remote Desktop Services
  • Citrix® XenServer, XenApp, and XenDesktop
  • VMware® Horizon Client, vSphere Hypervisor, and ESXi

Microsoft User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) and the User State Migration Tool (USMT), in addition to other comparable UEM data roaming tools, can take advantage of these newly enhanced capabilities to provide users with a seamless experience regardless of their location.

Shared Pre-Cache to Improve VDI Environments
Built on top of the existing multi-source paging capability, Cloudpaging 9.1 introduces a shared “pre-cache” to reduce performance and storage overhead in VDI environments. When combined with auto-deploy, this cuts down on application readiness time from several minutes to seconds.  Individual Cloudpaging Cache storage is no longer needed for each session, reducing total storage needs.

Enhanced Integrations with Existing Management Consoles
Administrators can deploy applications on client machines using their existing management consoles including Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (also known as ConfigMgr or SCCM) console.   This allows for fast deployments, minimal system storage, and safe, thorough application clean-up upon removal, all through System Center Configuration Manager management software environments without needing to learn new programs.

Additional Administration Tools to Automate Application Provisioning
Enhancements have been made to common scripting tools for command-line interface (CLI), PowerShell, and COM API’s to configure the automation of application deployments. For example, the tools have been improved through the introduction of new commands, such as adding an application from an URL, cache controls, wildcards queries, and better feedback mechanisms fit for modern desktop management.

Flexible Product Licensing with Named-User or Device-Based Seats
Numecent now supports both named-user or device-based licensing of the Cloudpaging product. Enterprises may take advantage of the pricing model which best suits their finance department’s needs, while MSPs are equipped with the ability to meter and bill their clients based upon the volume of applications, sessions, or time.  MSPs may also take advantage of the Microsoft® Service Provider’s License Agreement (SPLA) compatible billing model.

Doug Pfiffner, CTO of Numecent, led the product development team in the Cloudpaging 9.1 Release.  He explains, “Numecent’s engineers are some of the best and brightest in the industry.  Their collaboration with enterprise customers during the technology preview was instrumental in us improving upon an unparalleled solution for application compatibility with Microsoft products.”

Numecent will be hosting a free webinar on Tuesday, April 17th from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Eastern Daylight Time to demonstrate the Cloudpaging 9.1 technology enhancements.  Join the webinar interest list by visiting numecent.com.
