Osman Kent :: CEO & Co-founder
Osman is a serial technology entrepreneur best known as the co-founder & CEO of 3Dlabs – at one time an almost $1Bn company on Nasdaq and one of the fastest growing companies in Silicon Valley. 3Dlabs was responsible for making workstation class 3D graphics happen on the PC and paved the way for PC becoming the dominant CAD/CAM and DCC platform. A silicon valley veteran, Osman is an experienced deal maker, having raised almost $400M over the years in various equity transactions, including with Intel, Texas Instruments and Creative Labs.
Osman has a First Class double-major in Computer Science and Electronics Degree from University of Birmingham (UK), is a fellow of the Royal Society (RSA) and was recently given the Freedom of London for lifetime contributions to the IT industry. He is the inventor of numerous patents in computing and graphics and was the originator of the first hypervisor on the PC in 1985. In his spare time, Osman incubates musicians through his record label Songphonic. He was recently cited to be among the top 15 technologists by the Business Insider magazine.
Arthur S. Hitomi :: CTO & Co-founder
Dr. Art Hitomi is Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Numecent. Hitomi is a recognized figure within the technology community with expertise within the areas of on-demand application delivery including application and data streaming, application virtualization, peer to peer systems, distributed workflow systems, software development methodologies, and has contributed to the development of Internet protocol standards. He is the inventor of numerous patents held by Numecent.
Prior to Numecent, Hitomi co-founded Endeavors Technologies at the University of California, Irvine as a PhD student. During his tenure at Endeavors he has been responsible for all aspects of engineering including technology, development and QA. His products have been nominated and awarded by the industry, including a finalist in the Software Development's Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards for 2005.
Prior to starting Endeavors, Hitomi held both academic and industry positions as a software researcher and developer, including principal developer for a distributed learning system he implemented for Sun Microsystems. Dr. Hitomi is a graduate of University of California, Irvine with a BS with honors, an MS degree, and a PhD in Information & Computer Science.
Hildy Shandell :: COO
Hildy Shandell has over two decades of success working with private and public technology companies in a multitude of operating, strategic, transactional and investing roles. She has worked with Numecent as our Chief Operating Officer since November of 2010.
Previously, Hildy was a Venture Partner with Opus Capital, a $1 billion early stage venture capital fund, where she sourced and evaluated investment opportunities in multiple enterprise and consumer markets. She has also advised start-ups on business and go-to-market strategy, potential strategic alliances and financial/operational infrastructure.
Previously, Hildy was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Genesis Microchip, where she was instrumental in the sale of the company to STMicroelectronics at a 65% premium to market, the largest industry premium in recent years. While at Genesis, she accelerated new product launches through a technology licensing program and designed an acquisition strategy to strengthen the company's portfolio of differentiated technology. Prior to Genesis, Ms. Shandell was Vice President of Corporate Development at Broadcom. In that role, she completed close to $300 million of acquisitions which achieved 80% of the targeted sources of value and 95% retention of key talent.
Before joining Broadcom, Hildy was Chief Operating Officer of 3Dlabs, having been promoted from CFO, to lead global operations. Prior roles included Managing Director of the Renaissance Fund, a $150 million private equity fund, and partner at two major international law firms.
Ed Corrente :: CFO
Ed Corrente is Chief Financial Officer for Numecent. He has served in this position since February 2010 and is responsible for all aspects of the finance function including financial planning and analysis, accounting and reporting, tax, treasury, administrative, risk management and HR functions.
Ed brings over 25 years of financial experience as CFO of several public and private software and other companies and as a certified public accountant with Ernst & Young. He has been involved in mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions aggregating over $2 billion and has held Board positions in several companies.
Ed earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, Canada and a Certified Public Accountant license in the State of California. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of CPA’s.
